Yoga has been one of Helena's passions for over 14 years, and it is through this passion that she decided to become a hatha yoga teacher. Helena just loves being on her yoga mat, this is where she goes to unravel and discover what is truly going on within her.
Yoga is a complete science of life and has been around for many thousands of years. ‘Hatha Yoga’ translates as the yoga of postures. Postures are performed utilising the breath, held to encourage strength & balance, and it is through this practice that we gain flexibility and freedom of the mind.
Yoga allows us to feel more in touch with our body and mind, more relaxed and at ease with life, less stressed and all in all happier and healthier.
Helena's retreats are a safe and happy place to practice yoga in, no matter what stage or level you are at! She teaches carefully with informed experience about the postures both in flowing strong sequences and softer, more developmental spaces.
Helena believes that once you know the basic form of a posture, you can then create meditation within your movement both in and out of it. Helena aims to teach you how to practice this and use this wisely during her retreats, even when you do not realise it!
Helena focuses on the empowerment of relaxation and meditation within all movement (even the odd dance), and the total opening of the body to free the mind. Yoga nidra is used during the late afternoon sessions.
It is not about what you do, it is the way that you do it!
Yoga becomes beautiful when there is no effort involved, when the breath is free and smooth, when the breath is not laboured!
Helena trained to be a Hatha Yoga teacher yet enjoys using many different varieties and styles within her classes, as well as lots of openness and lots of fun.
